Finest Learning Mountain
Buttermilk Mountain, one of four mountains in the Aspen/Snowmass resort complex, is located just three miles outside the town of Aspen and is considered one of the premiere learning mountains in the country. Most of Buttermilk's 420 acres are groomed each night and 74 percent of Buttermilk's ski and snowboard terrain is rated beginner or intermediate.
However,: despite it being a premier mountain for learners, Buttermilk is home to the ESPN Winter X Games until 2010(for an unprecedented run of nine consecutive years!). While the experts frolic in the Crazy Train Terrain Park - the longest in the world - the rest of the family can celebrate Buttermilk's smooth, wide, rolling trails, perfect for learning a new sport or trick. Whether you are just starting out or a seasoned rider, a day at Buttermilk will be a relaxing experience like none other.
Already world famous, each year the X Games get even bigger and bigger with more events and more excitement for everyone. The competitions vary from slopestyle, halfpipe, slalom, motocross, skier X, boarder X and more. Thousands flock to witness professionals do their best for X Games medals at an event that is enjoyable for the whole family.
