Abundant Snowfalls

Stevens Pass Ski Area is located on the crest of the Cascade Range and receives abundant and frequent snowfalls.

Cool air often drifts from the eastern slope of the range, through the Stevens Pass area, keeping the snow relatively dry. The winter weather is usually comfortable, with temperatures often in the mid-20s.

Two national forests -- Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie on the west side of the crest and the Wenatchee National Forest on the east -- consist of predominantly Pacific Silver Fir, Mountain Hemlock and Subalpine Fir, offering a visual treat when covered by fresh snowfall.

Stevens Pass averages 450 inches of snowfall each year, covering 1,125 acres of skiable terrain, including 37 major runs and numerous bowls, glades and faces. The ski area still retains the charm and characteristics that make it such a fabulous family area, but also contains an abundance of terrain for more adventurous skiers.

Long established by Puget Sound skiers as an area for families and intermediate skiers, Stevens Pass changed dramatically in 1988 when the Mill Valley area, the "backside," was opened by a new triple lift. Nearly 400 acres of new terrain were added, much of it advanced.

There are three day lodges offering comfortable facilities: The Granite Peaks Lodge, the Pacific Crest Lodge and the Tye Creek Lodge. Each lodge is unique in it's own way, and offering their own individual anemnities.

Stevens Pass Ski Area is located on Highway 2 and is 78 miles east of Seattle, 65 miles east of Everett and 58 miles west of Wenatchee.
